Liveleak user OC shot on June 7-2018-with interesting story behind the woman on the plane. Part of the Wings of Freedom tour of vintage aircraft, the B-25 Mitchell was a medium bomber made most famous for the Doolittle Raid on Japan, the first American attack made on the Japanese mainland after the attack on Pearl Harbor. This famous raid saw sixteen B-25's take off from the aircraft carrier USS Hornet on a daring mission that brought morale back to America in a time of war. The B-25 was never conceived to fly off of an aircraft carrier, but it was adapted to that use and led to what the B-25 would be known for, adaptability under any combat circumstance. Employed as a bomber in every theater of operations, and even as a ground attack aircraft and low-level bomber, the B-25 was a reliable aircraft with a proven record that was hard to beat. Even after WWII, the B-25 saw considerable use in the civilian sector as a transport aircraft and as a fire-bomber over America's forested regions. This B-25 has an interesting side story...the name Tondelayo is also the name of the woman portrayed on both sides of the aircraft, taken from the character played by actress Hedy Lamarr in the 1942 film White Cargo. Said to be one of the most beautiful women ever filmed, Lamarr, when not acting, was also a genius inventor which due to her captivating beauty went largely ignored until recently, she now holds the legal and rightful claim as co-inventor of wireless and bluetooth technology first developed in WWII to guide torpedo's, and later missiles, then eventually adapted to serve as the foundation for communication tech so widely in use today.
