Great Barr School now on alert after abduction attempt in Dyas Road following similar attacks in Streetly and Sutton Coldfield

Schools in Great Barr are warning pupils to be vigilant following an attempted abduction of a pupil last night (Monday).
An older female pupil was approached by three men in a white van at the bottom of the hill on Dyas Road, Great Barr around 4.30pm. The men tried to persuade the girl into the van but she refused. Although unharmed she reported the incident to her mum who informed the police.
Today (Tuesday) pupils and parents at Great Barr School were warned to stay on high alert. The incident follows three similar attempts in Streetly and Sutton Coldfield last week and a further three near Streetly School before Christmas.
A spokesman for Great Barr School told the Observer: "We are aware that pupils from at least one other local school have been affected by a similar incident in the last few weeks. We have let all of our children know about it and are urging them to take care on their way to and from school and to report anything they see which concerns them."We are advising the children to stay in pairs or groups where possible. We will liaise with the local police over the coming weeks. We would ask members of the public to remain vigilant too and to report any concerns directly to the police."
The men are said to be of Asian appearance and were driving a white van. Anyone with any information that could help police are urged to call 101 or the Crimestoppers charity in confidence on 0800 555 111.
